ABSTRACT

Postmodernism has generated different effects on our societies. One of them, and perhaps most worrisome sociologically speaking, is the disruption of social ties and the emergence of anomie in the subjects. Capitalism and neoliberalism implemented in Latin America have produced figures for not encouraging and, while they are becoming less successful in this economic and political system, growing the disadvantaged, those who can not find where to insert and end up becoming «the others «, which generate fear and who must be separated. The «blurring» that postmodernism is imposed on the mediating role of the family, whose specificity is to establish the bond early and moderate, through the speech that it originates, the violence that culture has on the subject, produces devastating effects. Violence returns in its most cruel forms, such as destruction of the other and, above all, self-destruction. Helplessness is manifested not only in the loosening of emotional ties, but above all, in the absolute weakness of the individual to cope with a model that focuses on objects and overwhelms the desire. This essay focuses on the subject in poverty: the mechanisms of discrimination and segregation to which they are exposed daily in this context of constant impoverishment.

Keywords: poverty – postmodern – subject
